Our current articles of association, these are the fundamental rules of the co-op under which we are incorporated.  We are however updating these and are considering moving to a fully mutual form of incorporation under the Radical Routes Industrial Provident Society model.

Research

Rosie Evered helped kick off the housing co-op project in Sheffield by studying the potential for it in her Masters Dissertation project.  We've evolved a fair bit since then, but you can get a good understanding of co-ops ,housing co-ops and our motivations from the original document.
This 2004 Urbed report on student housing co-operatives as a concept was funded by the NUS and the co-operative group.  It's a thorough examination of the potential for large scale student housing co-operatives in the UK.
Amy Coppeard, working for the Students Union wrote this report on SSHC and student housing co-ops in general, a very interesting read.

What is Sheffield Student Housing Co-op?
We are students and graduates from Sheffield University. We have set up a housing co-operative to create a positive place for students to live. By working together we can bring down rents, provide a better quality of housing and give students the freedom and responsibility to look after the place where they live.
